Privacy Policy
Short version: we keep very little, we store no audio, we never sell your data, and we never share anything with any government agency.
Last updated 29 August 2026.
What we collect
Here is everything we keep, and why:
- Your email address. This is how you sign in, and how we send practice reminders if you turn them on.
- Your practice results. For each question: did you answer it, was it right or wrong, and when. This is what makes your progress and your readiness score work.
- Your state and ZIP code. Four answers depend on where you live — three on your state, and one on your congressional district. We use your ZIP code to look those up so you study the correct answers.
- Basic usage information. Pages visited and buttons used, so we can see which parts of the app confuse people and fix them. This is counted, not read as a personal file.
- Your payment record. If you buy the full test, we keep the date, the amount, and any code you used. Card numbers go straight to Stripe, our payment company. We never see or store your card.
What we do not do
- We do not store audio. Nothing you say is recorded or uploaded. Your browser listens, turns your words into text on your device, and the app grades that text. The words themselves are not kept — only "question 12, correct".
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share anything with any government agency — including USCIS, ICE, and immigration courts. We are a private study tool with no government connection. If we were ever required by a valid court order to hand something over, there is very little to hand over: an email address and a list of practice scores.
- We do not show ads and we do not put advertising trackers in the practice test, the dashboard, your settings, or the sign-in screen.
Advertising cookies on our public pages
On our public pages only — the home page, the state pages, and the page for organizations — we can use the Meta pixel (from the company that owns Facebook and Instagram). It tells us whether people who saw one of our ads visited the site, so we do not waste money on ads that do not help anyone.
- It is off by default. Nothing loads until you press "Allow" on the cookie banner. If you press "Decline", or ignore the banner, it never loads.
- It never loads while you practice, on your dashboard, in your settings, or on the sign-in page — even if you allowed it.
- It never receives your answers, your scores, or anything you say. When you buy, we may tell Meta that a purchase happened, with your email in a scrambled (hashed) form.
- To change your mind, clear this site's cookies and site data in your browser; the banner will ask again.
Who else touches your data
We use a small number of companies to run the app. They only get what they need, and they are not allowed to use it for their own purposes:
- Our hosting and database provider, which stores your account and your results.
- Stripe, which handles payment. Stripe has your card details; we do not.
- Our email provider, which delivers sign-in and reminder emails.
- A speech service, used only when your browser cannot read questions out loud on its own. It receives the question text to speak — never your voice.
How long we keep things
- Your account and results: as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, they are deleted with it.
- Accounts with no activity: if you do not sign in for two years, we may delete the account and its results.
- Payment records: we keep the date and amount for up to seven years, because tax rules require it. This stays even after you delete your account.
- Usage counts: kept for about 14 months, and not tied to your name.
How to delete your account
Sign in and go to Settings. Choose Delete my account and confirm. This removes your email, your results, your test profile, and your reminder settings. It cannot be undone.
You can also download a copy of everything we hold first — that button is on the same page. If you cannot sign in, email us at louisricard10@gmail.com from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.
Children
This app is made for adults preparing for the citizenship interview. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change matters to you — for example, if we ever collect something new — we will say so by email before it takes effect.
